What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the process of bringing one’s attention to the internal experiences occurring in the present moment. The term “mindfulness” is a translation from the Pali term “Sati” from Buddhist traditions, which refers to the promotion of spiritual enlightenment and cessation of suffering. More recently this term has become popularized in the West too, with a number of books, articles and programs discussing mindfulness. Research has shown that mindfulness is strongly correlated with greater wellbeing and overall health, and has several benefits for a wide array of conditions and outcomes (Branstrom et al., 2011; Davis & Hayes, 2012)
